The Team
The team at Bella Media comprises specialists in medical journalism, marketing, public relations, copywriting, graphic design and event management. The Managing Director is Michelle Kearney, a well-known figure in the industry with a wealth of knowledge and experience, especially in the cosmetic surgery field.
Jenni Gilbert | Journalist
Jenni Gilbert has been in media for 35 years working across newspapers, magazines and online. She was appointed at 20 in 1979 as London correspondent for Fairfax's former afternoon newspaper The Sun, where over three years she covered stories as diverse as the romance, engagement and wedding of Charles and Diana and the hunt for and arrest of the Yorkshire Ripper.
During her subsequent 12 years in newspapers she worked for The Daily Mirror and The Daily Telegraph (News Limited) in a variety of writing and editing roles.
In 1990 Jenni moved to magazines as a senior writer for Woman's Day. Over the ensuing 15 years she was senior editor, then deputy editor of Who magazine, News & Features Editor of The Australian Women's Weekly (also writing celebrity profiles, interviewing the likes of Madonna), launch editor of Good Medicine magazine and finally Editor-in-Chief of New Idea 2001-2005.
In 2006 Jenni rejoined News Limited as Acting Editor of Wish, The Australian's monthly luxury insert magazine, for 12 months. Thereafter she joined News' Group Editorial Marketing division, working on integration strategies across the newspapers nationally, News Magazines and related companies such as 20th Century Fox, Harper Collins and Foxtel.
A long-time interest in beauty and anti-ageing skincare, procedures and technologies resulted in a concept for a dedicated website, which Jenni launched in 2010 for Indepedent Digital Media as Younger You, along with two magazines of the same name.
Michelle Kearney | Managing Director
Michelle Kearney is the Editor-in-Chief of Australian Cosmetic Surgery Magazine and Bella Beauty Magazine, and is the Managing Director of Bella Media. She is a pharmacist (University of Sydney) with over 15 years of retail and hospital experience. and also an exercise physiologist (University of NSW). Michelle wrote freelance articles for various publications including Australian Fitness Network Journal, Luxury Travel Magazine and M Magazine, before launching Australian Cosmetic Surgery Magazine in 1998. She writes brochures and website copy for many plastic and cosmetic surgeons and is skilled in demystifying scientific jargon for the lay person. She gave evidence at the Australian Government Inquiry into Cosmetic Surgery in 1999 and regularly presents at local and international conferences on public relations and marketing.
Michelle’s expertise in the cosmetic surgery arena is extensive and she has a comprehensive knowledge of the intricacies of the industry. She has developed strong relationships with all the key players in this field and is acknowledged as an expert in medical PR and marketing. Michelle will put in place a solid marketing plan to maximise your clinic’s profile and positioning in the marketplace.
Debbie Pilarinos | Art Director
A graphic designer for over 20 years, Debbie has worked extensively for organisations such as Downtown Duty Free, Trimex and Rothschild. She produces specialist brochures, annual reports,
magazines, newsletters, logos and corporate identities. Her work always achieves the highest standard of fresh, effective originality and clarity of message. She is also art director on Australian
Cosmetic Surgery Magazine.

Bill Dunk | General Manager
Bill Dunk has over twenty-five years of experience in design and IT businesses, and has worked on a diverse range of projects in that time include business branding, ISO 9000 accreditation, web site design and implementation, and Conference and Exhibition design and management. Bill has recently been working on a number of integrated social media projects.
Debby Graca | Director of Operations (currently on maternity leave)
Debby has nine years experience in the cosmetic surgery arena. She has developed key relationships in this area and developed first-hand knowledge of this field. Her expertise lies in advertising, promotions, public relations and communications. She has also studied marketing and strategic business planning.
Shallis Mason | Beauty Editor
With a broad experience in the beauty industry, events and publishing as well as 5 years experience as a legal secretary, Shallis has extensive organisational skills and has a keen eye for upcoming trends. Shallis is a great addition to the fast paced publishing environment of Bella Media and is extremely friendly and customer focused.

Aimee Surtenich | Editorial Director
Aimee Surtenich is our Editorial Director. She has extensive experience in magazine publishing, particularly in the area of cosmetic surgery and beauty. Before joining the team in 2005, Aimee was an editor for a leading global legal publisher. She has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Media and has also worked for an award-winning business magazine in London.
Lizzy Wood | Deputy Editor
Lizzy joins Bella Media with nine years' experience in the print and digital publishing arena. Having moved from the UK to Australia in 2008, Lizzy has worked for a number of leading publishers in Sydney, including a role as contributing health and wellbeing author for Younger You and, most recently, associate editor online for MiNDFOOD. With particular experience in the health, pharmaceutical and beauty industries, Lizzy brings a wealth of experience to the team.
Gemma Garkut | Journalist
Gemma studied journalism at the University of East Anglia in the UK and has a Bachelor of Writing from the University of Canberra. She has freelanced for a diverse range of publications in lifestyle and the arts and recently worked as a travel writer in London. She loves the world of fashion and beauty and is very excited to be a part of the team of Bella Media.
