Cosmetic Surgery Magazine - AU | Overview

Australian Cosmetic Surgery Magazine (ACSM) is the authoritative information source about the cosmetic medicine industry and related products in Australia. Each issue contains information about individual procedures written by experts in the field, plus doctor interviews, technology updates, and the latest health and beauty news.

ACSM is a quarterly publication, available nationally in quality, targeted newsagents and bookstores. It provides a unique opportunity to reach this niche market as it is considered essential reading for everyone in the industry.

In addition to retail and subscription sales, we also send copies to every cosmetic and plastic surgeon, selected cosmetic dentists and dermatologists, plus 3000 beauty therapists free of charge. We also distribute over 4000 complimentary copies at Beauty Expos in each capital city. Readership is currently estimated at over 150,000 and is continuing to grow exponentially. In addition, ACSM is being actively promoted in our ongoing radio and bookstore campaigns, and in magazine publications such as New Idea and Studio.

Cosmetic Surgery Magazine - Letter from the Editor

Publishing is an exciting and dynamic industry in this day and age. A paradigm shift is occurring for print media, with publishers moving into the more immediate and interactive digital platforms that the online medium has offered us. We now have the best of both worlds – the tangible experience of reading an actual publication and the convenience of flicking through the pages of a virtual magazine (e-zine). These e-zines make content more accessible to our local readership as well as to a new global market.

Zinio.com is the largest online newsstand in the world, operating on many platforms including PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad. Zinio makes the simple act of reading a magazine a full multimedia experience, with integrated live links allowing readers to click straight through to associated websites, watch videos or interact within social media communities. We’re excited to be putting Australian Cosmetic Surgery Magazine, along with the other Bella publications, onto this international platform. Readers all over the world can now click through to videos, blogs, photo streams and profile pages as they thumb through the latest beauty and cosmetic news on whatever device they favour.

In fortifying this new era in technology and social media, Bella Media is busy organising a full-day seminar at the Hilton Sydney for practice managers and doctors. We’ll be sharing how to maximise the impact of their practices’ integrated media strategies, including social media tools and producing effective marketing material tailored to their business. Stay tuned for more information.

Back to the business of cosmetic procedures, Mark Twain once said that ageing is an issue of mind over matter – if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. For those of us who do mind, on page 56 Anne-Marie Marynycz, president of the Association of Professional Aestheticians of Australia (APAA), delves into the scientific theories behind the ageing process.

This edition also contains our annual Breast Special, covering the gamut of all things breast related – from augmentation, lifting and reduction to nipple and areola tattooing. From page 142, see 50 pages of procedures, clinical photos and doctors’ advice.

Our report on the risks of developing breast cancer (page 60) is a must-read for everyone. With October almost upon us, breast cancer awareness month is the ideal time to take stock of the state of our health. We spoke to German anti-ageing specialist Dr Michael Klentze on the new genetic research that may help you determine whether you’re susceptible to developing breast cancer. See you on Zinio!
